There is no mistaking that summer is finally here.

The temps are up, the pools are full and the days are growing longer. At Rival, we love this season, not because of the hot days, but for our opportunity to work alongside our summer intern. This year we hit the jackpot of interns – he is smart, dedicated to his work and excited to learn.

Meet Thomas Hilton, a senior construction management student at Western Carolina University. Thomas grew up in Kernersville, North Carolina, played high school football for the 4A state champions and enjoyed participating in many community service projects.

A son of a firefighter and a volunteer firefighter himself, Thomas has a passion for creating and maintaining sound infrastructure. He wants to ensure safety in construction and develop projects with firm foundations.

While interning at Rival Construction this summer, Thomas will be hands-on-learning from Project Manager Martin Reavis and Superintendent Ted Evans. They will be working at the campus of Western Carolina University on the Brown Dining Hall Building.

Summers give us the opportunity to teach our interns about construction management but also to learn from them. We love the joy and excitement that they bring to the work site. Thomas, welcome to the team! We’re happy to have you at Rival this summer!
